Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Pulse's models, documents, citations, costs, privacy and what Pulse can and can't do.
Getting started
Do I need my own AI provider or API key?
No. Pulse comes with Oroe AI, models Oroe runs for you, with nothing to set up. You can connect your own provider if you want a specific model. See Choose and connect AI models.
I see “Pulse AI is not available on your plan”. What now?
Pulse is part of certain Oroe plans. Follow the upgrade link on that screen, or ask your workspace owner.
Do I need a separate login?
No. You sign in with your Oroe account. See Welcome to Oroe.
Models and providers
Which providers can I connect?
OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, Together, Ollama / Beast and Other (OpenAI-compatible).
Can I see my API key again after saving it?
No. Keys are encrypted and write-only. Pulse can use, rotate and remove a key, but it never shows it back to anyone. If you need a new one, use Rotate key.
Can I use a different model for one conversation?
Yes. Select the Model: button in the chat header and pick a model for that conversation. See Chat with Pulse.
Documents and citations
Which files can Pulse read?
PDFs with a text layer, Word (.docx), text (.txt), Markdown (.md) and CSV (.csv, .tsv), up to 2,000 pages per document. See Documents and folders.
Why does my PDF show as Failed?
Most often, it’s a scan. Pulse reads the text inside a file and can’t read scanned pages or photos of text, so a scanned-only PDF has nothing to search and shows as Failed. Password-protected PDFs and older .doc files fail too. Hover over Failed to see the reason.
How do I ask about my documents?
Switch on Documents in the chat header, tick the folders or files you want, and ask. See Cited answers.
What do the numbers like [1] in an answer mean?
Each one is a citation: a passage from one of your documents. Hover to preview it, or select it to open the passage, highlighted, beside your chat.
Pulse said it couldn’t find the answer. Is something wrong?
No, that’s on purpose. If the documents you ticked don’t cover your question, Pulse says so rather than guessing. Try ticking other folders or files, or rephrase the question.
What does “could not be verified against the sources” mean?
Pulse checks each statement in an answer against the passages it cited. That note means one or more statements weren’t supported by those passages. Select Show to see which, and read the source yourself before relying on them.
Are Pulse’s answers always right?
No AI is always right. Pulse cites its sources and checks its answers against them so you can confirm what matters. For anything important, open the citation and read the passage.
Can other people in my workspace see my documents?
Everyone in the workspace can see workspace files. Only the person who uploaded a file, or the workspace owner, can rename or delete it.
What Pulse can and can’t do
Can Pulse chat look at my bookings, contacts, inbox or monitors?
No. Pulse chat works with your conversation and the documents you choose. It doesn’t read or change anything in Cue, Nest, Relay or PinWatch. Use those modules for that information.
Does Pulse search the web?
No. Pulse answers from the model and from the documents you choose.
Can I export to PDF?
Not at the moment. Chat answers export as Markdown (.md) or Plain text (.txt), and the editor exports to Word, HTML and Markdown. See Write with the Pulse editor.
Can Tron agents use Pulse?
Yes. In Tron’s Agent Builder, under Execution, set Runs on to Shared Pulse connection and choose an execution policy. Pulse then picks the model, applies your spending limits and records the cost. See Tron.
Where do I approve what a Tron agent wants to do?
In Tron. Pulse only shows the status of an approval, in the task trace on the Usage page. See Tron.
Costs and privacy
How do I see what AI is costing me?
Open Settings → Usage and choose 7d, 30d or 90d. You can break costs down by model, connection, module and use case. See Usage and budgets.
Can I stop Pulse from spending too much?
Yes. Set a Budget for one task (optional) under Advanced settings → Edit routing and limits… on the AI connections page. Pulse checks every request against your limits before it’s sent, and stops any that would go over.
Does Pulse store what I type?
Not by default. Usage records hold counts and costs, not the text of prompts or answers. The workspace owner can turn on Content logging to keep prompts and responses for a set number of days. See Usage and budgets.
Can I stop other modules from using AI?
Yes. In Settings → Module intelligence, each module has a switch that turns Pulse’s extra analysis for it on or off. These settings apply to your own account. Routine notifications, like a new appointment or a monitor going down, never use AI and always stay on.
