Deals and the pipeline

Set up your sales stages, add deals, move them across the board and close them out.

How the pipeline works

The pipeline is a board of columns, one for each stage of your sales process. Each deal is a card. As a deal progresses, you drag its card to the next column.

Your workspace has one pipeline. You can shape its stages to fit the way you sell.

Create your pipeline

  1. Open Pipeline, or go to https://nest.oroe.ai/pipeline.
  2. Select Create Pipeline.
  3. Choose whether to start with the default stages: Lead, Qualified, Proposal, Negotiation and Closed Won. You can change them later.

Good to know Create Pipeline only appears when you don’t have a pipeline yet.

Manage stages

  1. On Pipeline, select Manage Stages.
  2. To add a stage, enter a name, pick a colour and add it.
  3. To rename a stage, select the pencil next to it.
  4. To reorder stages, drag them into place.
  5. To delete a stage, remove it from the list.
  6. Select Done.

Note You can’t delete a stage that still has deals in it. Move its deals to another stage first.

Add a deal

  1. Select New Deal at the top of the page, or Add Deal at the bottom of a stage.
  2. In Add New Deal, choose the Contact and the Pipeline Stage.
  3. Optionally pick a Product / Service from your catalog. See Dashboard and catalog.
  4. Enter a Deal Title and the Value, and choose its currency from the dropdown.
  5. Set a Probability (%) and an expected Close Date.
  6. Add any Notes.
  7. Select Create Deal.

Move a deal

Drag a card from one column to another. Hover over a card and you’ll see Drag to move deal.

Edit, pause or close a deal

Open the menu on a deal card:

  • Edit Deal – change any details.
  • Mark Inactive/Lost – take the deal off your active board. Choose On-Hold, Inactive or Lost, and give a reason so your team knows what happened.
  • Mark Completed – you won it. Enter the Actual Close Date. The deal’s probability is set to 100%.
  • Delete Deal – remove it for good.

Use the Active Deals and Closed Deals tabs to switch between deals still in play and those you’ve finished with.

Deal totals and currencies

Each stage shows the total value of its deals. If you have deals in more than one currency, the totals are listed per currency and joined with a plus sign, for example €12,000 + $4,500. Nest never converts between currencies.

Note The Pipeline Value figure on the Dashboard isn’t split by currency. If you work in more than one currency, rely on the totals on the Pipeline page instead.

Plan what happens next

Every deal moves forward through calls, emails and meetings. Plan them as steps. See Steps and reminders.
