Steps and reminders
Plan the calls, emails and meetings that move each deal forward, record what happened, and keep on top of what's due.
Steps and reminders: what’s the difference?
- Steps are planned actions tied to a deal, like “Call to discuss the proposal”. They live on the Steps page.
- Reminders are follow-ups tied to a contact, like “Check in after their holiday”. They live on the contact’s Follow-Ups tab. See Contacts.
The Action Steps page
Open Steps in the sidebar, or go to https://nest.oroe.ai/steps. You’ll land on Action Steps.
Switch between a List and a Calendar view, and use the tabs to focus:
- Today – steps planned for today.
- Upcoming – steps coming up.
- Due – steps whose time has passed and still need doing.
- Completed – steps you’ve finished.
- All Steps – everything.
Create a step
- Select New Step.
- Choose a Type: Call, Email, Meeting, Demo, Follow Up or Task.
- Under Link to Deal, pick the deal this step belongs to. Every step needs a deal.
- Set the Priority and the expected Duration.
- Enter a Title, and pick a Date and Time.
- Choose the Assignee, the person who’ll do it.
- Add anything useful under Context / Notes, like talking points or what was agreed last time.
- Select Create Step.
Tip No deal to link to yet? Create one first in the pipeline. See Deals and the pipeline.
Work through your steps
Each step in the list has these actions:
- View Details – see everything about the step.
- Add Followup – record what happened. In Record Followup, choose the Response (No Response, Interested, Not Interested, Busy or Other), add Notes, and choose a Next Action: Followup Required or No Action Needed.
- Mark complete – tick it off.
- Edit Step – change the details or move it to another time.
- Delete – remove it.
You can also change a step’s status from the status dropdown on its row.
Good to know A step you don’t complete moves to the Due tab once its time has passed. Check Due each morning so nothing slips.
